Privacy Policy
Palouse Water Pros is a small, owner-operated water treatment business in Moscow, Idaho. This page says, in plain words, what we collect about you, why, who sees it, and how to have it changed or deleted. Palouse Water Pros is the trade name of Mission Unlimited, Inc.; “we” and “us” on this page mean both.
What we collect
Only what you give us, or what we learn while doing a job for you:
- Your name, the address where the work is, your phone number, and your email.
- Details about your water and your water system: test results, the equipment you have, what you tell us about your water, and our notes and photos from the job.
- Anything you choose to give us to get to the equipment, such as a gate code.
- Your texts and emails to us, and a record of our calls. Calls to and from our business line may be recorded and transcribed so we have an accurate record of what was asked and agreed.
- Estimates, proposals, invoices and payments for your job.
This website collects nothing about you unless you use its well-log lookup, described in the next section. It has no accounts, and no analytics or advertising tools. The site is hosted by GitHub and loads its fonts from Google; like any web host, they may see basic technical details of a visit, such as your internet (IP) address, under their own privacy policies.
The well-log lookup
The site has one form: a lookup that finds the state’s well driller’s reports (well logs) recorded near an address. It asks for two things.
- The address you type. It goes to our own lookup server, which uses it to look up public records: Latah County’s address and parcel maps and deed records, the Idaho Department of Water Resources’ map of wells, and, if the county’s maps cannot place the address, the US Census Bureau’s address finder. We keep each lookup with the email that opened the results: the address as you typed it, how it was placed, and the wells it found, so we can see how the lookup did and check an answer by hand. We also count lookups by nearest town each month, with no email beside the town.
- Your email, for a one-time code. Before it shows results, the lookup emails you a 6-digit code to type in. We keep your email, how many lookups and property checks it has made, and when it was first and last used, so we can see how the lookup is used and notice if one email is making a great many. The addresses you look up are kept with your email, as above. We may email you now and then about well water and water treatment from Palouse Water Pros; every such email has an unsubscribe link. We never sell your email or the addresses, or share them with anyone outside Palouse Water Pros for their marketing. We keep them until you ask us to delete them, even if the code is never entered; deleting your email deletes its lookups and ends the cookie below.
Once you have entered the code, the lookup keeps one cookie on your device for 30 days so it does not ask for a new code every time. The cookie says the code was entered and which count a lookup adds to, by a number rather than your email; it holds no address. You can end it at any time with “Forget this browser” on the lookup page. The lookup keeps the county’s public records for a property for up to a week, so a second lookup does not ask the county again; they are not tied to you or your email. The results are public records. Beside each well, the lookup shows the name written on the state’s public well log: the person the well was drilled for, and the year. It is not today’s owner, and the lookup never shows today’s owner from the county’s records. The lookup runs on a server we rent from Cloudflare, its page loads fonts from Google, and the code is emailed through Resend, an email delivery service.
While the lookup is a test, open by invitation. We keep the list of emails we have invited, so a code goes only to them. Some well logs have not been read from their scanned pages yet. A lookup puts the unread logs within a mile on a list to read overnight, and we send you one email when the ones it showed you are ready, usually the next morning (if they cannot be read within 21 days, no email comes). If you answer the questions under the results (whether a well is yours, not yours or you are not sure, its casing size and tag number, how the lookup went, and your water: its hardness, any treatment, and problems such as staining, smells or running out of water), we keep the wells you tap and your answers with your email, so we can ask you a follow-up question and learn about the water around here, well by well. We never sell your answers or share them outside Palouse Water Pros. If you ask us to delete your email, your answers stay only as unnamed answers about those wells.
Why we collect it
- To do the work: test your water, design and install your system, and service it later.
- To schedule: set up visits and let you know when we are on the way.
- To invoice: send estimates, proposals and invoices, and keep the business and tax records the law requires.
- To follow up: check that your system is working and let you know when service is due.
We do not sell, rent or trade your information to anyone.
Who sees it
Only us, and the few companies whose tools we need to do the work. They handle your information for us, and only to do that work:
- QuickBooks, for estimates, invoices and payments.
- Our phone and texting service, which carries our calls and texts.
- Our email service.
- For the well-log lookup only: Cloudflare, which runs the lookup; Resend, which sends its one-time code; and, to place the address you type, Latah County’s online maps and, if they cannot place it, the US Census Bureau’s address finder. The county and the Census Bureau get the address, never your email.
- The service that stores our own job and bookkeeping records.
- A water-testing lab, when your water needs a lab test. The lab gets the sample and what it needs to report the result.
We share your information outside that list only if the law requires it, such as a court order, or if you ask us to, such as sending your test results to your home inspector.
Text messages and your phone number
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
All of the sharing described above excludes text-messaging opt-in data and consent. Your agreement to receive texts from us, and the phone number you gave us for texting, will not be shared with any third parties. Our texting service only delivers our messages to you.
How texting with us works, including how to stop, is on our Terms page. To stop texts at any time, reply STOP to any text from us.
How long we keep it
We keep job records, test results and invoices for as long as we need them to service your system and to meet tax and business-record rules. When we no longer need something, we delete it.
See, fix or delete your information
You can ask us at any time to show you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email info@palousewaterpros.com or call (208) 883-4444. We will reply and tell you what we did. If the law makes us keep something, such as an invoice for tax records, we will tell you that too.
Children
Our service is for homeowners and property owners. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page with a new date at the top.
